After an unforgettable trip to Kauai, we jetted off on a quick 30 minute Southwest flight to Hilo. Traveling to Hilo was the perfect way to relax and unwind after the few strenuous days of hiking around Kauai. Located on the Big Island of Hawaii, Hilo offers stunning views, plenty of outdoor activities, and so much culture and history. Our stay at the Grand Naniloa Hotel was a bit of an upgrade from our camping experience at Kumu Camp and we both were looking forward to a resort style stay! From the friendly staff to the beautiful views, this hotel is an experience not to be missed. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the views from the 9th floor oceanfront room were magnificent - check out the rainbow picture we captured on the first morning of our stay! On our first day, we decided to take it easy - worked out, did laundry, and biked up to Walmart for some goodies. We strolled on over to the neighboring hotel for dinner that night. You’ll see Ben’s fresh crab sliders in the above pictures! On our second day, we got a couples massage at Banyan Massage Hale, then rented a double kayak and paddled around the bay. It was a great way to get out and explore the coastline, and the views were incredible. After kayaking, we decided to explore the underwater world. We snorkeled off the shore and explored the colorful coral and fish. It was a great way to get up close and personal with the local marine life! After our day of adventure, we decided to enjoy a night of culture in our hotel lobby. We watched a performance by an acoustic guitarist and hula dancer. It was an early night because we were up and out of the hotel by 5am to catch our next flight to…
